A brief overview of the features in the upcoming PointFire 2007 v3.0 release.
IceFire Studios is pleased to announce the PointFire 2007 v3.0 release is nearly ready for public release. The release date has been set to July 30th, 2010. As many clients are eager to learn about the new features, we are providing the following feature list:
- Introducing per-site setting configurations
- Fully inheritable site settings with the ability to break inheritance at any site level.
- Clients will no longer be required to make configuration decisions on a web application basis.
- Enables clients to deploy several different multilingual environments within the same web application.
- The all new GUI interface
- All PointFire related operations can be performed in a new modal JavaScript/AJAX driven pop up interface.
- Change site and list settings quickly and easily.
- Vastly improves user efficiency and end user experience.
- Multilingual Content Management (MCM)
- Nomenclature change from Version to Variations to reduce confusion between file versioning and language variations.
- Ie. "English Version" column becomes "English Variation"
- With the new PointFire GUI enhancements, MCM is made much simpler; whereby you can now:
- Change "Item Language" value to multiple list items at once.
- Link multiple list items together at the same time.
- Sort and filter list items to quickly find items for linking.
- Clear links on multiple files.
- Per list settings enable clients to chose how each list handles MCM.
- Multilingual Web Part Enhancements
- "Display This Web Part In..." feature now shows what language a web part is set to display in.
- Clients can now specify the level of translation of each independant Web Part.
- General Multilingual Enhancements
- Clients are no longer required to add the Language Filter Web Part to pages to filter content.
- Several general performance improvements.
- New advanced output caching support and features.
- XML translation control.
- Clients can now specify which XML nodes to translate.
- New settings option: Recache Translations
- Automatically when change occurs or manually triggered.
