PointFire 365 v2.6.0.0, December 30, 2022

This release introduces new features, including translation of Choice columns, translation of modern page titles and webpart titles using the Single Page Method.  It also allows MUI translation and Clear Cache to work if scripting is off

This is a supported official release. It can be used for production.  If you were using an earlier supported release, the upgrade requires no change to data or licenses, however you must press the "Activate" button on each site after upgrade or use the ActivateApp script. Some JavaScript from the previous version will remain cached until the next session unless you press Ctrl-F5 or equivalent on your browser.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Starting in March 2022, all of our PowerShell scripts have switched from the legacy SharePointPnPPowerShellOnline module, which stopped being maintained in 2020, to the PnP.PowerShell module.

The PF365 installation script will uninstall the old module and install the new one on the workstation if that has not already been done. If no one has yet run the command "Register-PnPManagementShellAccess", you must get a global admin to consent for the Tenant. This only has to be done once for the entire tenant.

New and Changed Features

• Translate the view of Choice columns by injecting JSON column formatting
• Translate modern page titles and webpart titles if SinglePageMethod is set
• Added new script for setting the SinglePageMethod in web property.
• Translating the Interface, which requires full control to the site, now also requires at least read access to the root site in the case of subsites
• Changes to MUI translation and to Clear Cache so that it works if scripting is off

Resolved Issues

• Date and month not translating in a calendar list when no locale has been selected
• Custom Site column and Content type were sometimes not translated properly.
• Speed up MUI step3, add incremental retry if it times out, avoid the error "the operation has timed out"
• MUI step 3 is showing "Error in loading "Multilingual Translation" list items." when more than 5000 terms are present.
• Show alert message while performing MUI step 3 if the Multilingual page publishing feature is enabled.
• Column Translation Issue with Title and other out-of-the-box columns when two lists have the same column titles

• In site 1 navigation, add the url of a document library of Site 2. Navigate using the navigation link, and sometimes filtering is not applied properly.
• In site 1 navigation, add the url of a document library of Site 2. Navigate using the navigation link, and sometimes page reloads 3 times.
• Navigate from one list to another on the same site, the navigation language on the other page is sometimes not the current one.
• Several changes to stop supporting the old Serbian (Latin) codes and better support the new one
• "Display this Webpart In" shows consistent messages if scripting is off.
• After a page has been copied, change the language. It should redirect immediately, but it does not redirect unless I go to the page library first.
• Clearer messages to translation footer functionality if Pointfire Translator is not installed, to understand that the page is copied for site languages (languages) and how to edit them.
• Pages copied by the translation footer now have a clearer title.
• After doing Clear cache using the clear cache button, it was not deleting all keys properly. Page
• Page translation footer would sometime overwrite the Item language of the source page with the current site language.
• While running EnableScripting.ps1 for subsite, it is showing an error.
• After activating the PF 365 app through the script, the "Clear cache" is not working and shows a error pop up window "It looks like the webpage at [https://...] might be having issues, or it may have moved permanently to a new web address."
• While running the script "ActivateApp.ps1" for subsite, it is showing the below error while enabling the custom scripting. "Error : Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) Site might have NoScript enabled, this prevents setting some property bag values."
• Fix license activation errors for license categories between 125,000 and 2,000,000 users
• When activating the license on a site, if scripting is off it sometimes did not offer to download the script to turn scripting on
• When performing MUI step 2, it was sometimes not applying translated terms from the Hub site.
• When performing MUI step 2 from a subsite, it was sometimes not applying translated terms from the root site.
• Footer navigation was sometimes not localized
• When re-activating PointFire with fewer languages, the languages that are no longer required were not being deleted from the multilingual translations list

PointFire makes SharePoint truly multilingual and lets your users collaborate in their language.  Two different users going to the same page on the same site will each see it almost entirely in their language, both UI and content, without using Variations.
